Working On Main WS PC

Sunday, August 1st, 2010

I’ll be working onthe main weatherstation PC throughout the day so you’ll probably see some strangeness today mostly in the form of data not updating in a timely manner.

Skycam down for a few days

Friday, July 30th, 2010

Anolecam01 (the Skycam) will be down for the next few days. I’ve reached the point of not wanting to have to deal with the continual lockups and a new camera is on the way. Thanks for you patience!

Data Loss

Sunday, May 16th, 2010

Looks like we’ve lost some data for May, 2010 due to a corruption in the database. I just caught this this morning. Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you notice anything unusual like this as I don’t look at every part of the site every day.

I believe I’ll be able to recover the missing data but I can’t do it until the end of the month, otherwise the data will get overwritten given the method I have to use to recover it.

Webcams and recent site down times

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

Our apologies for the recent outages and loss of the west facing webcam. We’ve been doing an office renovation and as a result equipment has been moving around from time to time causing some issues with the site and frequently with data uploads. This process is ongoing and it will not be unusual to see some downtime and loss of data over the next few months.

It looks like we may have lost the west facing camera due to a hardware failure. We’ll be troubleshooting it later to confirm but for now we’re assuming the camera itself has failed and will have to be replaced. That may take a while given the ongoing office renovation noted above.

UPDATE: The west facing camera is back online. Turns out it was a cable issue.

Page Updates

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

We’ve finaally gotten around to updating the station information page to reflect the new PC hardware we are using. Additionally, we’ve tweaked the time lapse so that it only generates images during daylight hours. This makes the movie file much smaller and eliminates the first few minutes of looking at nothing but blackness and the one light across the canal.
